Welcome to EGL Planner
This web site showcases a couple of applications developed by Chris Laffra.
Each of the samples uses EGL Rich UI to build rich, interactive web applications that
mash up information from various sources into a comprehensive browser experience.

Featured Application: GVButler, Google Voice for the iPhone
Main functionality offered by GVButler:
- Native-looking iPhone dialer webapp for Google Voice
- Download your Google Contacts list to your phone
- Select a contact or enter a number and call it on Google Voice
This application uses many cool techniques that allow it to behave like a native iPhone application:
- Custom bookmark icon and startup screen
- Page transitions using "tweening", allowing for a cross-browser experience
- Browser-side storage (HTML5 on iPhone, Google Gears elsewhere)
- Transparent translation of iPhone touch events into regular mouse events
- Works in any browser, greatly improves development productivity
- Implemented as a webapp, no Objective-C or Apple hardware needed
- HTML5 caching to start up faster (coming soon)
- Fully secure, using SSL on the front and backend
- Written in EGL Rich UI
- Entire application, including EGL runtime and Google Gears is compressed into 78K
Don't get Lost! Combine local search, GPS, and the Entertainment Book: GPS Butler
Some of the exciting features offered by GPS Butler:
- Search local points of interest
- get driving directions using Google Maps, or Navigon GPS
- Use Google Voice on your iPhone to call any of your contacts, or drive to them
- Search for Entertainment Book offers near you
